This series of concerts on the first Sunday of each month is a fund-raising program for the restoration of the beautiful and historic St. Matthias Church.  This is a series of varieties of classical chamber music from string quartets to chamber orchestras.  The year 2016 marks the 20th season of concerts.
All the musicians are donating their time and talents for this series. Our biggest expense is purchasing music. There is no charge for the concerts, but attendees are urged to make a donation to defray expenses and help with the restoration and maintenance of the church building.
The series has generated enough funding to date to: (1) repair the organ, (2) provide new lighting in the chancel, (3) re-plaster and paint the nave, (4) help with the restoration of the Memorial Chapel, (5) install insulation, (6) help buy a new furnace and air-conditioning, (7) rework the drainage around the building, (8) restore the doors, (9) re-point the brick on the outside, and, (10) replace the roof. The next major project will be reworking the front steps.  We also need a new blower and bellows for the organ.
In addition to the regular First Sunday series of classical concerts, mid month we host performances of a wide variety of local musicians ranging from jazz, to choral, to klezmer.  These concerts are usually on the third Sundays, but can vary.  These are often concerts in which the offering is shared between the church and the musician.  All Sunday concerts are at 3:00 PM.
